Wonderful Winter Days

What a lovely place Brisbane is to winter in! Really! It almost makes you forget how horridly hot it can be in the throws of summer when we sweat over our Xmas lunches and even the pool to too warm to be refreshing....

This pic was taken today - about 22'c I think. My Gossip Girls celebrated a xmas in July with a lovely roast lunch and yes, there we are in a range of t-shirts and light cardies.....well we have lived here a while and one does acclimatise!

If I could just make our summer as perfect....and maybe add the odd light snowfall to enhance our winter we'd truly live in the best place around!

The only downer today was our Lovely Le was missing, down with the lurgy, but we sent our love and some home made chocolates that we posted thru her front door to make her feel better.

1 birthday, 3 cakes

My precious #1Son turned 6 yesterday and somehow managed to score 3 little celebrations with candles to blow out.



The 1st was with the cuzzies at their new holiday house up the coast. It was a double celebration as 1 of the girls has a birthday the day before him.







The next was last night on his actual birthday with my parents after dinner. Please note my clever decorating with the 'smarties' before I jammed the candles into the little marbled bar cake.




And finally today we had 5 of his school buds over for a game of puttputt then back to our place for 'gingerbreadmen' pizzas & cake. Yes, another award winning decorating effort but I would like to note that I whipped up the icing from memory (only the 2nd time I've made it!) and it was swirled with green, red & blue with a few more 'smarties' thrown in for stlye.





So now we look forward to another year -knowing we'll see more great report cards from school, a little more height & finally to lose some teeth.....


Anyway, Happy 6th Birthday my sweet boy.
