my moment

This morning, as we drove to school, I had my little moment of feeling what it must be like to be a truely great singer.........

You know when they start singing and you could just hear a pin drop, everyone is just listening to them with such awe.........

Yes, that was me this morning.......well me and Irene Cara........What a Feeling!

And yes, I'm sure it was awe that caused the boys in the back to be completely silent!

Meanwhile, in my face painting life, I have entered the Eumundi Body Art Carnivale which has its theme as Fantasy, so I am nervously producing designs in my head, and on my manniquin torso....and on YD.

This, or something like it may be my entry in the face paint comp. I ran out of time to do the whole thing but was aiming for a dragon.

The body art comp, I have completely changed my idea so have to start again after scrapping the Alice in Wonderland theme.....I'm thinking about Genies now....

My fav Woopee's visit Brisbane!

I was so happy to see my Lovely Le last week, when she bought the family back to civilisation for a quick visit. Even tho I had to share her due to time constraints, we had a wonderful catch up and shared a delicious nachos (cooked by the talented MIC) and even tastier crepe dessert.
I'm hoping her trip back was as uneventful as the trip down....

7 things....

I'm assuming here that I'm supposed to reveal stuff relatively unknown here....tricky but here goes....

1/ My middle name is May. I rarely use it as it make my name read as a sentence since I took my husbands surname (serious error in judgement there, but what you do when in the blooms of love!)

2/ I long for colder climes....Like Le who's making plans to move to Dunedin, I too love cool weather. I am not cut out for Life in Brisbane -the humidity melts me each summer....

3/I am starting to suffer the belief that my post baby shape is going to stay with my for the rest of my days....no matter how sad or determined I get, I am a failure at exercise programmes (and that is what I need to do most -get my butt moving and away from this computer!)

4/I plan to enter my first body painting contect next month up in Eummundi. I have never even painted a body before and I know of others who are entering that regularly get paid heaps to do so. I'm almost terrified of the whole idea but I really want to try it....maybe I should just try the face painting comp and save the body til next time.....Either way a real comp in front of people is quite a nerve racking idea!

5/Under our spare bed is full of material in boxes I have stashed away to 'make stuff with'...when I'm going to do this or what I'll make I have no idea - one day....

6/Apart from when I was gallavanting around Europe doing more silly things than I realised at the time, I have never lived more than 2 suburbs away from my parents home (and they have been there since about 1979). Dependant -not totally but they are very  handy to have close!

7/I secretly play with the Lego while the boys are at school & I should be doing housework....

there you go -7 new things about me!

Oh Fe!

The amazing Fe from 'Fe...a life' has gone and made me a recipient of some joint bloggy love awards.

Kreativ Blogger comes with the instructions: this award… with the following instructions…

1. State 7 things about yourself
2. Pass this award to 7 bloggers.

and the Beautiful Blogger rules state...
A. Thank the person that nominated you; link to the person that gave you the award.
B. Pass this award on to 15 bloggers you’ve discovered and think are fantastic.
C. Contact said blogs and let them know, they’ve won.
D. State 7 things about yourself.

Ok, so I can start here tonight (as I don't want a post about a death sitting at the top of my blog!) but I will have to finish later as its almost bedtime for the boys....

So (A) Thank you so much for this lovelyness Fe. I hope that sending out so much love helps you wander away from any deep dark holes that may be laying close along your daily path. Your new found photographic skills are something to aspire to, as is your fierce and wonderful preotection of your gorgeous boys. I don't read your blog for the 'car-wrecks' but I have learnt a lot about the unfairness of our so called family justice system all the same -and it makes me sad for you and for all those others struggling under those issues. You inspire -don't forget it!

ok (1) & (D) will have to wait a bit.

and (2) & (B & thus C) will probably cause me some problems as most of my regular blog reads are ones I link to thru Le's blog. Others I visit I mostly lurk on so it would be weird to send them an award I think. I will see if I can come up with anyone new tho...but again it'll have to wait til my next session here.

In the meantime -
Bloggy Love to all my readers - I don't have many but thanks to those of you who do drop by! And if you want to be the recipient of these awards -please take them as you will!

a post script...

Waaaay back in the beginning of my blogging life (really a mere18 months or so, but that can't be quite right can it?), I was confronted by a death in the property I once called home and that we now rent. I worte a couple of posts about it starting here.

Well last night on the news, they told that 'the guy' have been charged  to 9 years in jail (but with parole after 3) for Danee's murder - well manslaughter actually as she may have dies from a heart attack.

They told how she had ignored his phone call to her demanding that she come pick him up from the pub and how he subsequently came home and strangled her with one of her shirts and left her to die on the floor with more than 20 bruises to her body and up to 8 blows to her head.

Aparently he had some scratched and bruises too -I'm glad she tried to fight back.
There was something about a domestic violence order being imposed a month earlier....

What struck me most about all this (apart from the measley parole bit of the sentence) was how the details were so easily read out as part of the news. This happens every night and its only when you have a connection to a news item that it actually stands out as different. How awful it must be for Danee's family (and all those other families) to have their personal tradegies played out on such a public stage with so little emotion by the news readers.

I can only hope this is the closest it will ever affect me.

Happy Easter !

and I hope the Easter Bunny visited you too!

Mr Clever clogs

A bit of proud mother boasting :

I found this classic amongst the fete book collection i have growning downstairs and bought it up for the boys to read for a few weeks (as you do!)

I fully expected #1Son to be able to read it himself, being almost 7 and all.

I did not expect *Boy at 4.5years old to be able to pretty much read (well maybe guess a bit but still...) nearly the whole book to me with little promting!!  So Proud of him!!!
