or things I've discovered over the last week......
-I've mentioned we have chickens before, 6 actually, and while they have made great pets with the added benefit of eggs they are horribly early risers. Sure I should have realised that before we positioned the coop right next to our bedroom window but it did seem to be the best location. Actually, its not them getting up early that's the problem, its when they start sqwarking not just clucking. I liken it to a dog barking -sooner or later its gunna p-off the neighbours. I have finally found a satisfying way to relieve my frustrations of early wake ups be taking the boys fully loaded pump action water gun and shooting out the ensuite window to my hearts content. Very satisfying when a direct hit is scored and the noise abated for at least a while....

-a few weeks ago I went to the Dr's and was given instructions for my usual yearly blood tests (for diabetes, cholesterol,...)and this year I was also told I should start having mammagrams as I'm now 'of that age group'......oh woe the joys of aging! Anyway after fasting over night and heading off to have my blood drained after school drop off, I was hungry with a desire for something really nice -and sweet...like pancakes & maple syrup....so I stopped in at teh supermarket and had a feast! Bacon too, all drizzled with maple syrup -something we discovered at 2nd cousins in Canada (would never have thought to combine them myself). So there I sat with my breaky, orange juice and craft magazine.....alone and quite. Lovely!

-At school we have 5 babies just born or about to arrive in #1Son's class. We are having a combined Baby Shower for all the Mums and 3 of us eager mums have been madly X-stitching these cute little animals that my Mum's sewn onto some towels for gifts. I did the bear. It's been a great idea because, apart from inspiring me to get out an old design I've been doing for years (n years), it has proven that the boys are now old enough to not make a mess of stuff when I have to leave it for a bit without totally packing it all away every time I need to put it down. This is a great realisation as now I feel I can 'get a bit crafty' again.

-#1Son was invited to join his cousins at a Farmstay this weekend. My parents were going to but there wasn't room for us. #1Son was almost as excited as his male cousin was at having another boy around, and couldn't wait to go. I, however felt quote nervous for some reason, and sad my big boy was taking another step forward in his independance.....

-While #1 was away we asked *Boy what he would like to do and the answer was go to the big town on the train... sure we can so that and while we're in there YD can take you to the ScienceCentre & Museum while I tootle off to the Craft show for an hour or 2 then we can lunch at SouthBank and watch some of the Buddah birthday celebrations. Perfect! And it was a lovely day too. * Boy had a great time and YD got to do some of the funner stuff I usually do and I got all inspired at the show -and came home to make this necklace from one of the beads I purchased...
BUT the most fun thing of the day for me was my 1st blogger meet up with
Katie who I knew was going to be there but didn't really think I'd find. There she was sitting (where else?) at a sewing machine whipping up a cute little purse and I just was glancing around and saw her -I knew it was her straight away. Anyway it was just a quick meeting as we were both then off in different directions but it just made the blogging world a bit smaller!... Nice to meet you Katie!! (and it was nice to see some of the Bristyle bloggers I've lurked upon there too with their lovely crafts.)
